FirstCry.com – The best online shopping store for Kids

Kids products often tend to be a little more expensive than other products and we wouldn’t mind a little discount on it right? The retail stores however barely offer discounts and this is what stresses me out initially.
However, when I was pregnant, I started looking up for anything that could give me discounts or good deals and that’s when I stumbled on this site. It has been 3 years and I have never gone to any retail store to get my kids things unless necessary or urgent.

The site is a blessing indeed to all the parents as well as the others( as you could purchase gifts for kids from this site).

The site has offers all the time along with cashback offers. However the cashback coupon doesn’t act as an additional discount coupon on your next purchase and if your purchase discount is more than the cashback coupon, it doesn’t accept it. So that’s a small issue.

A deal that comes once in a while is the 1 rupee store- where you can get one product for 1rupee ! This works well if you have to make a purchase during that period and I have got cotton balls, baby lotion, etc for just Rupee 1 ! The best way is to buy pampers so that the cart can cross Rupees 500 ( so you wont be charged for shipping) and then you can pick the product of your choice for Rupee 1. This deal comes like a surprise though.

They have another offer once a month which is the “Free at 3” which is on select few items and if you don’t get the free option , you can purchase it at flat 60% off which is a good deal!

These are some of the products I purchased at flat 60% off and in case I have missed them in the picture, I will mention them here! The price includes the tax as well:

 1. @bellacottonindia : the cotton wool is priced at 49Rs after disc : 21Rs

  1. Bella cotton buds priced at 99Rs after disc: Rs44

  2. Bella hygienic baby tissues -10pc pack of 8 :96Rs after disc 41Rs

  3. Handwashes from @zucinaturalcare priced at 99Rs each after disc :43Rs for 250ml. I purchased 3 bottles.

  4. Strawberry hand sanitizer from junior range of @zucinaturalcare 145Rs after disc 64Rs with the owl tag

  5. The flamingo pouch :45Rs after disc 19Rs

  6. The pen eraser: 25Rs after disc 10Rs

  7. @hotwheelsofficial : aquamist handwash for boys : 135Rs for 250 ml after disc :54Rs

  8. @johnsonsbabyindia active shiny drops shampoo 100ml :99Rs after disc 41Rs

  9. @himalayapersonalcare baby powder : 185Rs for 400gm after disc:80Rs

  10. @babyhugindia cotton balls around 135Rs for 100gm pack, after disc :64Rs .

Also I managed to get the @chicco.india toothpaste which my son loves at a good discount (approx 32% off ). This is quite rare! I have more stuff for my son comin in few days – they are from Teddy brand of clothes.

Will share details about the clothes soon!

Hope this post was informative to many!

Simple ways to Blog: First-Timer Woes and Solutions

I have always loved writing. And I know with the kind of technology we have these days, everything’s on record and writing is definitely a task!  Oh no! Blogging, Vlogging, creating content on you tube- all these aren’t as easy as they appear. There is a lot of effort put in by every person who writes or does video content.

I haven’t ventured into you tube and creating video content yet; but i intend to in the near future. Right now multi tasking with a full time job, a kid, and the passion for writing and being informative to people , is quite a task!

Firstly, one needs to believe in oneself. Without that belief, nothing is possible. At times,  we go through different phases-some good, some bad and some can be a pain. At this time we just need to believe and trust ourselves and our work… and take a break if required-you wont be judged! 🙂 Remember these before you get going on that passionate adventure.

Now one needs to understand your area of interest- it can be technology- you might be good with tech and can explain the pros and cons really well; or you may b inclined towards makeup and the like, etc.Find that area, start working on the content. One could maintain a daily planner and a diary where you could ceate your content ideas and write down what you want to speak on or write about,so that you don’t miss any points. this is quite helpful!

Nothing comes easy in life! I don’t have a canon camera yet! I take the product pictures on my phone, use photo editing apps to give it the finish and to add my name on it as well.  Be sure to use ur user handle on all your pics 🙂 .

Working late night after a day at work and then spending time on the blog is quite a task. And yes most of the time it is on products I purchase and use or have won. Companies initially offer you the batter system.  And most of the time, this won’t be feasible as they don’t pay for the article you write for them.

Since I haven’t done videos, I cant speak much. But many youtubers have spoken about this area and all started off with their phones and a tripod ( you get basic ones on the shopping websites) you could also get a microphone so that your voice recording is clear. You could check out videos on this by Shreya Jain, debashree ,Larissa. They have all the details on how to go about video recording.

The you tube world has taken a leap from what it was earlier. There are a lot of people who have established themselves. But that doesn’t meant you can’t try! There’s room for everyone on every platform.

All The Best! 🙂

Fragrance: Strong Coffee aroma

My Take on the Product:

<

p style=”text-align:justify;”>

I have sensitive skin , but not much of acne. The product didn’t break me out and the fragrance is simply amazing. I am a coffee lover and hence the fragrance appeals to me. If you are not very fond of coffee, you might give this a miss , just cos of the fragrance. But I would still suggest that you try this out!

<

p style=”text-align:justify;”>
I have used this product for months now, and I haven’t used it just on my face , but as a body scrub at times too. And I like the immediate effect! the skin gets a glow and gets squeaky clean. I don’t rub the product harshly onto my skin. A light rub is enough.

<

p style=”text-align:justify;”>
As a face mask, you need to apply it onto your face and allow it to dry up. As you rinse it off with water, gently rub the product in circular motion and then rinse it off completely.

<

p style=”text-align:justify;”>
Coffee is supposed to help in lightening pigmentation, scars and brightening the skin. The scrub serves the purpose. I use it once a week and a lot of dark spots have lightened.
It makes the skin more bright and radiant.

<

p style=”text-align:justify;”>Pros:
– Highly effective in lightening the dark spots and pigmentation.
– it is 100% handmade and vegetarian.
-doesn’t dry the skin like most of the other scrubs.( the other scrub which I recommend is the almond shea and rose from Juicy Chemistry).
– Doesn’t irritate the skin (especially the coffee granules)
– effective as a Deep Cleanser and gets rid of Blackheads.
-Love the coffee fragrance

<

p style=”text-align:justify;”>Cons:
-Overpowering Coffee fragrance which can be an issue for those who dislike coffee or have a sensitive nose.
-Comes in a tub- please pack in a spatula team !!! Its a little unhygienic if it has to be used by all.
-The products are available online and not in stores in the market.

So, this product is my Favourite and I recommend this one to all the coffee lovers and also the non-coffee lovers!!!! Please go and try this out!!! A must have scrub in your kin care regime. Though this was a PR sample, this product is gonna be on my repurchase list!

Product Review: Quinoa Seeds From Sorich Organics

Healthy food has become the need of the day. Quinoa is one such seed which is widely used in breakfast bowls, of which, amazing pictures are posted on instagram, which makes you want to try it out as well. So here I am with a packet of quinoa in my hand, all set to create a breakfast bowl with an instagram picture to kill for!!!! 😀  The Indian version would make Quinoa look like Upma! The breakfast bowls look amazing though:

About the Plant:

I must say, as I searched for the Quinoa Plant , the photographs of the plant were stunning. The plant itself is so colourful and doesn’t appear to be a superfood plant!! As I first saw the pictures, I assumed it to be a flowering plant that could be used for floral decorations.  Have a look at these pictures:

Quinoa, (Chenopodium quinoa), plant species grown for its tiny edible seeds. As a member of the Amaranthaceae family, quinoa is not a true cereal. Its seeds are high in protein and fibre, and its young leaves are also nutritious and can be eaten as a vegetable similar to spinach (to which it is related). The plant is native to the Andean region of South America, where it has been a staple crop for millennia. Touted for its health benefits, quinoa is now grown in a number of countries around the world, including the United States, Canada, Italy, Sweden, and India, but most of it is still grown in Peru and Bolivia.

After harvest, the seeds are processed to remove the bitter-tasting outer seed coat. Versatile for many dishes, cooked quinoa supplies nutrient content similar to wheat and rice, such as moderate amounts of protein, dietary fiber, and minerals. Quinoa is gluten-free.

Quinoa is a little expensive and that might refrain you from making a purchase. But yes, you could give it a try and then decide if you would want to continue with the product. Or maybe you could purchase this once in two months if you like it 🙂

Buy the seeds from Amazon.in or visit the brand webpage www.sorichorganics.com to get in touch with the team. To know more about the brand, Click Here.

Product Review: Sorich Organics Halem Seeds

The word “Halem” gives a very Middle-East feeling to me, and maybe to you as well right? I just wondered while I looked at the packet of Halem Seeds, as to what in the world was Halem seeds??  On getting a few of these seeds on my palm, the colour of the seeds are reddish-brown. They have a peppery , tangy taste  which I didn’t quite like. The seeds have derived names like cress, garden pepper cress, pepperwort cress, pepperwort pepper grass, mustard and cress or poor man’s pepper, due to this peppery flavour.

About The Plant:
So yes, although I didn’t like the taste, and before the seeds went to some corner in the kitchen cupboards, I did some research about this plant and I found it quite interesting. I look forward to using these seeds in my daily cooking as well!
cress
Garden cress has tiny, meaty, slightly elongated green leaves and long white-green, feeble-looking stems with stringy white roots. It is readily available in the form shouts and best harvested when the shouts reach 5-10 cm in height. If left to mature, the plant can easily reach 50-60 cm in height. There are several varieties available, including wrinkled or crinkled ones (called as such as a result of their curled leaves). Seeds are tiny and red brown in color and are used as seasoning in Asian cooking under the name ‘haloon’, where they are almost just as popular as garden cress itself.
Both the leaves and seeds are used for seasoning dishes. Garden cress leaves have a peppery, sharp flavor, similar to that of radishes. However, growing conditions can influence their flavor to some extent. For instance, growing the plant in pots, bowls or even flat plates and keeping it on your windosill will help temper its flavor and make it milder-tasting. Garden cress can even be sprouted from seeds on wet or moist paper towels or cotton wads.
So, if you wish to try out these seeds and add some zing into your daily cooking , head to Amazon.in and get yourself a pack of Sorich Organic Halem Seeds. Else you can check out their website www.sorichorganics.com and get in touch with the team. You can read more about this brand here.

Product Review: Pumpkin Seeds from Sorich Organics

Hey Folks!!!

Yess! I am back with another product review ! The brand  Sorich Organics needs no introduction, however, I shall post the link of my blog on the brand, right at the end of this blog post! :).

Today’s post is on another Super rich Superfood- Pumpkin Seeds!! These days,we get a lot of these seeds packed and promoted on a different level : giving us information on its benefits to health, nutritional value, etc. My mother would always tell me, during her time, once the pumpkin was cut open, the seeds were taken and dried in the sun and then they would peel off the thin shell protecting the seed and relish on the seed. It was a pass time earlier and a great snack as well!  Little did they know the benefits of snacking on this amazing little seed!  So here I am today to talk about pumpkin seeds, while i snack on them 🙂 .

IMG_5632

About Pumpkins! :

Pumpkins, and their seeds, are native to the Americas, and indigenous species are found across North America, South America, and Central America. The word “pepita” is consistent with this heritage, since it comes from Mexico, where the Spanish phrase “pepita de calabaza” means “little seed of squash”.

Selection and Storage:

Pumpkin seeds are generally available in prepackaged containers as well as bulk bins. Just as with any other food that you may purchase in the bulk section, make sure that the bins containing the pumpkin seeds are covered and that the store has a good product turnover so as to ensure the seeds’ maximal freshness.

Whether purchasing pumpkin seeds in bulk or in a packaged container, make sure that there is no evidence of moisture or insect damage and that they are not shriveled. If it is possible to smell the pumpkin seeds, do so in order to ensure that they are not rancid or musty.

By purchasing organic, you will avoid unnecessary exposure to potential contaminants. By purchasing raw, you will be able to control the roasting time and temperature, and avoid unnecessary damage to helpful fats present in the seeds. At the same time, you will be able to bring out the full flavors of the pumpkin seeds through roasting.

Pumpkin seeds should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. While they may stay edible for several months, they seem to lose their peak freshness after about one to two months.

About Sorich Organics Pumpkin Seeds:

Price: Rs.149
